Deb Ryan provides expert carbon management advisory and education on key topics such as emissions reduction, carbon markets, financed emissions and transition risk. A noted public speaker, Deb has addressed global audiences at prestigious conferences like CERAWeek, International Energy Week, and APPEC. Deb also hosts the “Navigating Carbon” podcast. 

With nearly 20 years of experience across emissions management, carbon markets, and the upstream oil industry, Deb has held various roles at S&P Global, oil and gas operators, and in consulting. 

In 2024, Deb joined the Board of Advisors for AlphaX Decision Sciences an energy software company incorporating AI into oil and gas workflows. In 2025, Deb joined the Board of Advisors for Geofinancial Analytics, a methane data aggregation firm. In 2025 she also joined the 1089.inc Board of Advisors, where she advises on carbon market methodology. 

Deb is also faculty at the University of Colorado, Denver, where she teaches Carbon Markets for Business as part of the JP Morgan Commodity Centre. 

Deb is a licensed Professional Engineer in both Colorado and Texas, holding a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Curtin University in Australia, along with an MBA from Penn State, USA.

Her leadership extends into the nonprofit sector, having previously served on the International Board of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and as Treasurer for the Women’s Energy Network Foundation.
