Eric D. Carlson
Mr. Carlson has been a successful petroleum geologist for 35 years. He has been a staff geologist for Marathon Oil Company, CDS Oil and Gas Group plc, and LCS Production Company. He also consulted for several independent operators. He has an 82% drilling success record, including a 98% success rate in the past decade. Since 2015, he has been an operations geologist for 97 Caboniferous and 7 Ordovician wells in the eastern Permian Basin. He is part of an asset team that ensures successful drilling, completions, and facilities design.
Eric has worked in 12 offshore and onshore basins, 5 years in the offshore Gulf of Mexico, and 4 basins in Latin America. He generates integrated seismic/subsurface prospect interpretations and field studies. More than 70 Waterfloods and Tertiary Recovery projects have been vetted or enhanced; and he examines the geology of 12-20 exploration and WF prospect submittals each year. He gained experiance in unconventional oil & gas exploration in Latin America, and in unconventional development programs in 10 US Basins since 1994. Eric is a subtle pay specialist who has helped to reverse production declines in the Permian Basin, the Gulf of Mexico and onshore Mexico. He has prepared reserve EUR's & lease valuations in tite sands and unconventional shale plays (Permian Basin, Hardeman Basin, and Latin America). His Wellsite Supervision includes more than 25 offshore logging jobs and 260 Permian Basin logging jobs (12 wireline companies, 18 mudlogging companies). He has performed more than 900 e-log evaluations in unconventional zones and several thousand pay counts in conventional reservoirs. He is computer literate.
Mr. Carlson is an honors graduate (1982) from Cornell University where he earned a BA in geology. He is a licensed geologist in the State of Texas; License Number 5258. He is a member of the AAPG and several other professional geological/petroleum associations.
