Course Description
Project Management: The success of many projects falls squarely on the shoulders of the team leader or project manager. Participants learn the winning methodologies in project management from planning, task analysis, to documentation. Begin with the end in mind. All projects should begin with a good plan and solid project management. Golub's Laws of Computerdom states, "A carelessly planned project takes three times longer to complete than expected; a carefully planned project takes only twice as long." As Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “Plans are worthless, planning is essential.” Good project management is a must if your exploration, development, acquisition or divestiture projects are to be completed on time, within budget and result in success. Task analysis and the development of a project Gantt Chart and CPM are critical to the success of projects. This course teaches the A to Z of managing, organizing and implementing a successful project plan. Learn why certain projects succeed while others fail. What are your project drivers - time, budget and/or performance? The answer to this question will impact the success of your project.

Synergistic Team Development: A particular problem within the petroleum industry is the requirement for specialized knowledge of too many subjects to be adequately conducted by one individual. The need for multiple specialists has led to the creation of multidisciplinary teams. The team concept must be applied correctly so that the teams function synergistically rather than linearly. Many companies that use the team concept are not truly applying the synergistic approach to multidisciplinary teams. Learn how to structure and implement true synergistic multidisciplinary teams for maximum results. Teamwork is the essence of synergy where 1 + 1 + 1 = 7. All members of a project must be a contributing, participatory part of the team. Team development is the single most powerful contributing factor to achieving common goals. This course provides the necessary information and skills for implementing successful team projects. During this course the participant will learn the difference between the true team concept and the lip-service given by many companies. The course teaches how to organize a team, define roles and responsibilities, implement and successfully complete a project plan. The course includes various project management and team exercises.
