Course Description
This course introduces professional ethics using case histories illustrating the principles presented. It examines the moral basis for professional ethics and codes of conduct and provides a foundation for analyzing professional ethics issues. There are important differences in ethical rules and we will discuss which rules should always be followed, those rules with exceptions, and what ideals we should strive towards. Course participants will gain a better understanding of the basis for professional ethics, the fundamental concepts involved, the existence of exceptions to the general rules and that discriminating between differing facts in a specific case can radically alter how the case is viewed. Conflicts of interest, the relationship between the professional and other groups (employers, clients, colleagues, the public, etc.) and other common types of professional ethics issues are addressed.
Who should attend
