This subsurface mapping manual is designed to improve subsurface geologic mapping skills in extensional and compressional tectonic settings. Many of the exercises are based on actual field examples. Some hypothetical or additional data may be added to certain problems to illustrate some point or to provide additional data so that the problems can be completed ina reasonable amount of time. The chapters in this manyal follow the same sequence presented in the Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping With Structural Methods textbook. As certain techniques are covered in the textbook, they can be followed shortly after with exerciese to reinforce the techniques. The mapping exercises should be completed with extreme accuracy so that the technique can be mastered and the benefits of the techniques observed.
